PCI - Payment Card Industry Compliance / Security Fee

The payment card industry has had an increased amount of fraud in the past few years. So in the interest of cutting down on this loss, they have implemented these security measures.

For New Customers Money Tree Merchant Services is waving the security fee of $4.95 a month for the first year. You still have the security of our service but with out the monthly fee you will not be charged until the 13th month.

This is a work in progress and we will continue to add and improve these security measures going forward. Here is an overview of what has happened in the past few years.

Several small and large companies, including processors, have had their clients credit card numbers and exploration dates compromised where their cards are no longer secure. This has happened in small part of stored data that has been retrieved by hackers who are able to inflict serious damage.

PCI compliance has reduced the amount of data that can be breached with new security measures. Visa / Mastercard International has made it mandatory as of July 2010 that anyone processing in the United States must be PCI compliant to continue to process transactions.

There is an ongoing cost involved to continue to keep this information safe and secure. In the interest of helping pay for these security measure, the processing banks have added new fees to help offset the costs. Some banks charge monthly fees of $4.95, $6.95, $8.95 and as high as $11.95 per month. Others charge annually $69.95, $89.95, $129.00 $149.00 per year. These are some of the costs involved in keeping your information secure.

Another area of security is in the credit card machines we now use that must be PCI compliant, whether entering, sending or storing data.

As a result of this fraud it has become an additional costs that has been passed on to the consumer in the interest of keeping your money safe.
